Lengthening using self-extending intramedullary screws

For the turn-bond, it works with an internal electric field and an internal motor with the screw, and the Presize 2 works by using a large-sized external magnet technology in a unit called (ERC) to move a magnet inside the screw that leads to the lengthening of the screw through this magnetic interaction.

It is used to compensate for the length of the shin bone, thigh and humerus.

External installation with technology


An external fixator may be needed to repair deformities or treat bone or bone decay in both the shin and thigh bones, and it can also be used in the treatment of joint stiffness, birth defects, and roughness of the ankle joint

An external fixator (TSF) technology is available to treat deformity by means of a computer with great accuracy to treat height difference, deformity, rotation defect and replace lost bones in the shin bone. Orthofix side stabilizer is also used to treat the aforementioned diseases of the femur

It is a surgical technique that helps patients who do not wish to have an external fixator fitted for a long time on their bones. And we use the external fixator only during the lengthening period while there is a medullary screw inside the bone, then after the lengthening is completed we install the medullary screw inside the bone and remove the external fixator, so that the medullary screw can protect the weak bone that was newly formed until it is completely healed within 4 to 5 Months. One of the advantages of this process is that the entire period of external fixation takes about 10 to 12 weeks and it is much cheaper than doing self-extending internal spinal screws.

One of its disadvantages is that we need to perform at least two operations: one to insert the spinal screw and the external fixator device, and the other for the final fixation of the spinal screw and to remove the external fixator after completing the major lengthening.

Its advantage is that it is cheaper in cost than the internal screw method with the remote control, while reducing the period of external installation.
